Hey Melvin
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but a picture wouldn't have done you justice this weekend. And I would need more than a thousand words to explain how much of a pain in the ass you are. Let me start off by telling you that Saturday was the best date I've gone on...in Montana! (I have to throw that last part in because we can't have your ego getting bigger than it already is.) Saturday was one of those dates that movies should be made about. It was realistic but more importantly it was two people growing together and continuing to take chances together. Thats important to me. I know I didn't give you a sappy Instagram post or a Facebook shout out, but I think you're fine with that. I hope so because you're getting a blog post dedicated to you...you're welcome.
Something hit me at the Dierks Bentley concert. Looking around at everybody glued to their phones made me realize how lucky we had it. We were able to hold a conversation like adults; we were laughing with each other the entire time; and we were reminded how important it is to live in the moment. Not a single second of that night was taken for granted. You understand that an Instagram post couldn't capture the little moments that we shared, and it means a lot that you do not require validation from social media. Hats off to you! You see in my mind, the best parts of the night shouldn't be show cased for the world. I like that only you and I know the little details.
I don't even know where to start as far as telling you my favorite parts of the night. So lets start from the beginning. Making fun of the girls in business school got us on a roll. Telling each other stories in that long ass line to get in was better than you texting me about it. Realizing that you passed up on some seriously nice seats to be with me, well it made me shed a tear! Conversations before the main act came on is always fun, we both know you love to talk. The odds that your friends would be right in front of us are just comical. When we locked eyes while dancing and singing along to Somewhere on a Beach and keeping your back pocket warm, even if it was only for a minute are seared into my memory! We had so much fun and we aren't even done yet. It was fun attempting to go to the James Bar and only grab one drink, but four later and a conversation with an old co-worker make for a good blog post the next day. (H A H A) Of course we had to go to the Pie Hole so you would shut your pie hole, even though you took the biggest damn piece of pizza! At the end of it all though, knowing us, we could be at an opera and still have a fun time. If you like opera, my bad!
We started out this relationship unsure of what would happen. Well maybe you did (insert winky face here.) BUT with every passing day we grow a little closer together and I'm doing my part to make sure you are taken care of.
So all in all you little pain in the ass, I like what you stand for; I like how you carry yourself; I like how strong you are; I like you. Simple as that.
I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. Thank you for the good times we have already shared and for the countless times to come.
